Installation

Purchase new equipment with confidence, knowing it will be installed properly.

You’ve picked out the new fixture, the generator or the EV charger. Now it needs to be installed correctly, safely, and in a way that works with the wiring you already have. Kushner Electric is run by Shlomo “Sol” Kushner, a master electrician with more than 20 years of experience, licensed in Maryland, Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Howard County.

What we install

Generators, transfer switches and interlock kits

A backup generator keeps the essentials running when the power goes out. A transfer switch or a generator interlock kit is what lets it connect to your house safely, so the generator never feeds power back into the utility lines. We install generators, transfer switches and interlock kits, and we’ll help you work out which setup fits your home. If you already have a generator, see Repair and Upgrade for repairs and maintenance.

EV charging stations

A home charger is much faster than a regular outlet, but it’s a large load. Before installing one, we check whether your panel and service can carry it. If they can’t, we’ll explain the options, including a panel or service upgrade. Our portfolio includes one of our EV charging station installs.

Electric water heaters

We install electric water heaters and the circuits they need, and repair them when they stop heating (see Repair).

Light fixtures, chandeliers and ceiling fans

From a single new fixture to a heavy chandelier, a fan in every bedroom, or a ceiling full of recessed lights, we make sure it’s mounted securely and wired correctly. One customer had us install ceiling fans in their children’s rooms; along the way we found and fixed earlier wiring problems that other contractors had missed. For lighting design ideas, see Aesthetics.

Attic fans

Attic fans help move hot air out of the house in summer. We install the fan and the wiring it needs.

TV wall mounts

We mount flat-panel TVs securely on the wall, so you can buy the TV and mount with confidence.

New circuits, room additions and new construction

Adding a room or building new means planning circuits, outlets and lighting from the start. We wire new circuits, room additions and new construction, plus phone cabling.

Why the installation matters

A fixture or appliance is only as good as the way it’s connected. A bad connection, an undersized circuit, or a box that isn’t rated for the weight can cause problems months later. We use quality parts and take care with the details. Customers often mention our attention to detail and how clean we leave the work area.

What to expect

  1. Tell us what you’re installing. Call or contact us with the item and where it’s going.
  2. We look at your existing wiring. We check whether the circuit and panel can handle the new load, and tell you if anything else is needed.
  3. You get a clear price. We explain the work and the cost before we start.
  4. We install and clean up. We’ll walk you through the finished work and answer your questions. If anything fails because of a fault in our work, we’ll come back and make it right.

If the job needs a permit, we take care of it.

Common questions

Can I buy the fixture or charger myself?

Yes. Buy the equipment you want and we’ll install it properly. If you haven’t bought it yet, ask us first and we can tell you whether your wiring is ready for it.

Do you install for businesses too?

Yes. We work with residential, commercial and industrial clients. See our Commercial page for business lighting and maintenance.

Which generator setup do I need?

That depends on what you want to keep running during an outage and how your panel is set up. We’ll walk through the options with you.
